What is the weather like in Mykonos?

Please be advised that the the weather in Mykonos is typical Mediterranean with mild winters and hot summers. From April to September, the weather is bright and sunny. Rainfall is rare; for that reason, the island uses tankers to supply its population and tourists with water. There are occasionally strong north winds (meltemia) throughout the year. The daily average temperature ranges from 9.5 °C (49 °F) in January to 28 °C (83 °F) in July.
April gets appreciably warmer. It is definitely not a month for enjoying the beaches, though.
May is sunny and warm in the main, but that depends on the year. May is maybe the best month to go to the island and all the Greek islands.
From June to August, it almost never rains and the maximum temperature can reach 35/36 °C (95/97 °F), especially in July and August. Fortunately, due to Mykonos being an island, hence surrounded by the sea, a certain level of humidity will keep the night cooler. Also, many winds during August (called Meltemia) come from the North and make the temperature cooler.
In September the temperature of the sea is still convenient for swimming as the waters have absorbed the sunlight’s warmth during summer. It constitutes definitely one of the best months to visit Mykonos. Even when it rains, it is very unlikely to rain for days to an end but during the day or night leaving plenty of time to engage in indoor and outdoor activities in the resort or around the island.
During October, the climate chills even more. Depending on the year, the weather can be good but can also get rainy sometimes.

What is the payment and cancellation policy of the resort?

Full Pre-payment is required to guarantee reservations. How far ahead the payment is required and how far ahead you can cancel the reservation free of charge will depend on your stay dates and the offer under which you have booked.

 

How do I pay for my reservation?

Once your reservation is complete, the reservations team will send you a secure online payment link which you can settle the payment via your credit card. Alternatively, we do accept bank transfers as well.

 

What are the payment methods while on the island?

Credit card/Debit Card payment as well as Cash payments are accepted on the island. As for credit cards VISA, American Express, MasterCard, and Diners club are accepted. For Cash payments, Euros (up to 499€ are accepted)

TRANSPORTATION

What is the standard mode of Airport transfer to Grecotel Mykonos?

Grecotel Mykonos Blu can organize a private Transfer for Arrival & Departure from and to Mykonos International Airport for all guests. The journey is only 4km, however it can take approximately from 10-minutes to 40 minutes to access the resort from and to the Airport, depending on the season and the traffic. In each case, our staff will inform you accordingly.

 

What types of vehicles are used for the airport transfers?

Our transfers are private according to the reservation terms.

Is there a waiting time for the transfers to the resort?

Private transfers are scheduled upon request and arranged in such a way to avoid waiting time, taking note of all parameters (traffic and airport check-in delays) in order to provide the smoothest ride.

 

How can Mykonos Town be reached?

  • Taxi order is available 24/7 at the reception (waiting time from 10 – 30 minutes)
  • Private transfer can be arranged from the guest services or the front desk.
  • With a rental car. scooter, buggy, quad bike, available options at the guest services desk
  • Public Bus is available with a bus stop in front of the hotel. Timetable depends on the season and is provided from our guest services desk.

DINING AND MEAL PLANS

What are the meal options for Children?

Children below 12 years can dine for free from kids’ menu.
All Restaurants have available Kids Menus. Children aged over 12 years old are considered as adults

 

Do you have Baby food meal plan?

0-1 toddlers will have arranged their baby food as you wish. Please contact the Restaurant Manager or your Guest Services staff to order in advance. Our staff is happy to lend a hand with warming baby bottles or baby food.

 

Do we need to book the restaurants in advance?

It is recommended to book your table in our Aegean Poets restaurant for your dinner in order to ensure the availability.

 

Can we book restaurants prior to arrival?

If your stay is in Grecotel Mykonos Blu, you can book the restaurant within 10-15 days prior your arrival either through our Grecotel App or by contacting our Guests Services Team via email or our WhatsApp Concierge which can be found through our Grecotel App.

 

Is there any dress-code for the Restaurants?

We follow a resort-casual dress code during dinner time at our Aegean Poets restaurant.
Swimwear and flip-flops are allowed during lunchtime at our L’ Archipel restaurant.

 

Can we arrange a Private Dinner?

We can arrange Private Dinners at different picturesque locations through our guest services team.

ACCOMMODATION

What are the Check-In and Check-out Hours?

Check-out: 11 AM
Check-in: 3 PM

 

What should I have with me upon the check in?

Your ID card or Passport and the credit card you have used to book your reservation.

 

Is it possible to enter my room prior to check-in?

If the room is unoccupied, the hotel may approve earlier entrance. However, if you are planning to arrive early in the morning and you want to ensure that the room will be ready, we suggest that you book an additional overnight prior to your arrival.

 

May I use the Hotel’s Facilities before my check-in or after my check-out?

All the Hotel’s Facilities are available to Grecotel Mykonos Blu guests to be used by the time you arrive in the hotel.

 

If I arrive before my check-in time, can I drop my bag somewhere?

Mykonos Blu provides you with a luggage area where you can safely store your luggage and personal belongings.

 

Is it possible to have a confirmed late check out?

A day before your departure a late check-out may be confirmed at reception. There are different options with applicable charges to choose from according to the availability the resort shall have. However, if you are planning to depart rather late and you want to ensure that the room would be possible to be kept, we suggest that you book in advance an overnight with your reservation.

 

What is the environmental tax? Am I obligated to pay it?

An environmental fee, defined as Climate Crisis Resilience Fee, of €10,00 per room per night is applicable by law, payable by the guest directly at the hotel upon check out.

 

Can we have twin beds?

All of our rooms are equipped with king size beds; however we may provide separate top sheets, linens and covers on the king size bed. An extra bed can be provided upon request in specific room types only, at no extra cost. Kindly inform us about your wish during your reservation procedure and prior your arrival.

 

Is there a coffee or tea in the room?

All rooms are equipped with Tea & Coffee Facilities, Nespresso coffee machine and pods.

 

Is tap water drinkable?

Tap water is not drinkable and can be used only for washing and teeth brushing. All rooms are provided with 2 free bottles of water on daily basis.

 

What is the size of the extra bed?

All our extra beds are rollaway beds 78 inches (200 cm) in length and 35 inches (90 cm) in width and can accommodate an extra person should the room occupancy allows to be accommodated.

 

Is it possible to arrange 2 x rooms or Villas next to each other?

If the booking is made in advance, we will do the utmost to arrange two or more rooms of the same type or villas next to each other or the closest as possible according to the type and availability.

 

Can you confirm a certain room number or location?

A request can be made once the reservation is confirmed. We shall do our utmost to accommodate the request as per availability.

 

How far are the Villas from the Beach?

The Villas section is located on the east side of the resort and are a few steps from Psarou beach.

 

Do we have a dedicated butler if we book a certain room type?

Yes, you will we have a dedicated Essentialist (butler) if you have booked the Royal Blu Mansion, throughout your stay.

 

How often are the bed sheets and towels changed?

Implementing measures of natural resources management with the aim of improving the local environment, bed sheets and towels are changed according to the resort’s environmental plan. However, in case you want them to be changed daily, you may place the designated label in the room.

 

Does the hotel provide Iron & Ironing board in the room?

Iron and ironing boards are available for our guests upon request and can be delivered in their room for a limited length of time for security reasons.
Ironing Service is also available with an extra charge.

 

Is there a safety deposit box in the room?

All room types offer a safety deposit box.

 

What plug adapter do I need to bring with?

The power plugs and sockets in the hotel are of European type C (Europlug). Type C consists of two round parallel pins while the wall plug has two holes where it is connected, the standard voltage is 220 V.

 

Is there an exchange office at the reception desk?

No, you may exchange cash notes in Euros at the airport and currency exchange shops in Mykonos town.

 

Is there an ATM machine on the hotel premises?

The nearest ATM machine is located 200 meters away from the resort at Platis Gialos beach.

 

Is the hotel accessible to Mobility Impaired Guests?

The resort and its rooms are not accessible to guests in wheelchairs.

 

Are pets allowed in the hotel?

Pets alongside their owners are welcomed at our hotels in selected accommodation. As pets we consider only dogs, and no other animals may be kept in the properties. Guests should inform the reservations department for the pet’s accommodation request upon booking. Pets shall have a maximum weight of 8 kg and are allowed in selected villas or bungalows with private gardens. One pet per guestroom is allowed. Extra charges apply. Pets must be fully trained and must be kept on a leash. Pets are allowed only in the guest’s room privacy and not in public areas nor in areas where Food & Beverage is served or consumed. This exclusion does not apply for guide dogs. Pet owners should hold un updated vaccination record and the pet’s health booklet provided by an authorized veterinarian.

 

Is the public pool heated and is it filled with fresh water?

The public pool is not heated and is filled with salty water.

 

Can we reserve sunbeds at the beach?

Sunbeds are first come first served and cannot be reserved.

Can friends of residents, who do not stay in the resort, use the sunbeds?

Due to high occupancy, we cannot offer sunbeds to non-residents.

WELLNESS CENTER

Do we have to book a therapy in advance?

It is recommended to book the desired treatments in advance to guarantee the preferred timing.

 

Do you have a Sauna, do I have to book?

We do have a sauna room in our Elixir Wellness center no reservation prior is required.

 

Do you have a Gym?

We have a well-equipped gym.

 

Do you have a medical facility on the island?

We do have a public health center and two private clinics on the island, along with 24/7 on call doctor service.

KIDS CLUB

Do you have a kid’s club?

We do not have a kids club.

 

Is it possible to book babysitting service?

Babysitting service can be booked according to the following terms and conditions.

  • Guests are required to book baby-sitting services 24 hours in advance, and they may do so via the Guest Services Team who will also inform about the cost.
  • All bookings are for a minimum of 1 hour and follow with 1-hour increments. For example, if the babysitting lasts for 1.30hrs the guest will be charged for 2 hrs.
  • If baby-sitting services are required for more than 3 hours, the babysitter can avail one meal from room service dining which will be charged to the guest.
  • For children below the age of 2, we allow one babysitter per child and for children above the age of 2 years, 2 children per babysitter at a time.
  • Each babysitter is assigned to a single room/villa.
  • The babysitter is chosen on best availability. We are not able to guarantee any specific requests such as gender, language or a specific Teammate.

What Types of Water Sports Activities do you have?

We do not provide Water Sports activities. However, our guest services team can point the nearest water sports activities area and make all arrangements on the guests behalf according to their needs.

 

Are there any good beach bars near Grecotel Mykonos Blu?

There are several world-famous beach bars in Mykonos, in walking or within a few minutes driving distance. Our guest services team can make all arrangements prior to arrival date or during your stay. The Guest Services team would be pleased to assist.

We do have different types of boat trip options through external partners to enjoy the sea breeze of the Aegean waters, small cruises and experiences, our guest services team is ready to provide you with plenty of information to plan the trip of your dreams.

 

Do you do Excursion trips with helicopter?

We do have tailor made trips with a helicopter through external partners to enjoy Mykonos from above or other requests, our guest services team is ready to provide you plenty of information to plan a unique experience. Although it may be arranged even on the spot, it is best to be settled three days before.

Do you arrange private jet trips?

Our guest services team can arrange a private jet through external partners for the guests and family. Kindly contact Grecotel Mykonos Blu guest services team to receive all information and provide all available options and cost.
