DANCE IN ANCIENT MESSENE
Grecotel celebrates a unique performance at Ancient Messene, proudly supporting the Kalamata International Dance Festival. Set within one of Greece’s most remarkable archaeological sites, the performance reconnects the site with its rich history while reviving its role as a place of gathering and dialogue. KALAMATA DANCE FESTIVAL
From 17 to 26 July, Kalamata hosts the 32nd Kalamata International Dance Festival, bringing renowned contemporary dance companies from across the globe to the city. This year’s programme explores themes of resilience and transformation through movement. Grecotel is a proud sponsor of the festival, once again standing behind a celebration of culture deeply woven into the life of Kalamata.
THE ODYSSEY
Messinia’s dramatic coastline and timeless landscapes recently caught the eye of Christopher Nolan, filming his highly anticipated “The Odyssey” in the region. A land already woven into the epic through Pylos and the legend of King Nestor, Messinia now finds itself part of the story once again with Filoxenia offering guests a front-row seat to a destination capturing the world’s imagination.
VICTORIA KARELIA MUSEUM OF GREEK COSTUMES
A short drive from Filoxenia, the museum houses the Victoria G. Karelias Collection, presenting complete traditional outfits from across Greece, gold-embroidered overcoats and fine jewellery. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 09.00 – 14.00, with evening hours Wednesday and Saturday, 17.30 –20.30, and Sunday mornings 10.00 – 14.00. Closed Mondays.
