HAPPENING IN ATHENS
There is always something more to discover in Athens. Explore the city’s cultural life, local favourites and latest arrivals through the eyes of ATHENA Pallas.
DISCOVER THE ATHENS BAR SCENE
Athens now holds five of Europe’s fifty best bars. Line and The Bar in Front of the Bar lead the list, followed by Barro Negro (#13), Baba au Rum (#14) and The Clumsies (#30). A city-wide constellation of excellence, and reason enough to raise a glass.
FOOD SCENE AROUND ATHENA
ATHENA-approved food scene includes: Linou Soumpasis (for cult Greek staples done right) and MM right nextdoor for drinks, Diporto (Greek & homecooked), and Lefteris o Politis (serving the best gyro souvlaki in the city since 1951). For the most striking Acropolis views head to Dolli’s rooftop for dinner and/or drinks! All within a 10′ walk from the hotel.
WALK TO PANDROSOU STREET
Since antiquity, Pandrosou Street has traded in jewellery, sandals and souvenirs. At No. 28, a short walk from ATHENA Pallas, our sister property THE DOLLI opens its own boutique this winter. We won’t say what’s inside — only that a gift for a gift’s sake is reason enough.
ACROPOLIS MUSEUM
A visit to Athens is incomplete without a visit to the Acropolis Museum. No further explanation. Bathed in natural light and set against views of the Acropolis, its galleries reveal masterpieces that have shaped the story of the world for centuries. From ATHENA Pallas, this essential encounter with the city’s heritage is only 20’ walk. Our concierge can assist you with ticketing and guided tour arrangements.
ATHENA ON SCREEN
What’s in a name? Athena, goddess of wisdom, guides Odysseus through his long journey home — a role brought to the screen by Zendaya in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Athens is one of the few cities in the world with an IMAX theatre, so you can see it exactly as he filmed it. Our Athena, still leading the way.
ATHENS ON FILM
Athens has long provided a captivating backdrop for the big screen, with its blend of classical landmarks, neoclassical architecture and contemporary city life. More recently, Kotzia Square and Athens City Hall, just outside ATHENA Pallas, became a filming location for a major international production starring Brad Pitt — adding another cinematic moment to the neighbourhood’s story.
