In El Greco we contribute to the environmental awareness of our guests and local community by:

Participating at the “clean up the med” program organized in cooperation with the NGO MED SOS.

Dedicating one day of the week, the “Green Day” to the environment and to environmental awareness recreation activities for young guests and children (energy saving, recycling, adopting a plant).

Organizing information days for local schools.

Supporting the protection of endangered species (sea turtle Caretta-caretta).

Organizing eco-presentations for our guests.

Celebrating the World Environment Day (5th June).
In El Greco we save energy, water and manage our waste following the three principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) by:

Applying Water saving methods.

Water flow regulators in bathrooms.

Computerised garden irrigation.

Adopting Waste Management systems.

Recycling (paper, plastic, glass, aluminium, batteries, old electronic equipment and electric appliances, used light bulbs, used cooking oil, ink and toner cartridges).

Using reusable glass bottles, barrels, plastic containers, pallets.

Composting.

Applying Energy Saving systems.

Solar energy for water heating.

Gas for kitchen appliances.

Energy saving light bulbs.

Magnetic electricity master switch in rooms.

Seawater-cooled central air conditioning.
Our ECO results
In 2009 we recycled:
- 12 tons paper,
- 3 tons plastic,
- 300 kilos batteries,
- 840 kilos used cooking oils.
In 2009 El Greco reduced its environmental impact compared to 2008 and managed to achieve:

4% Reduction in the usage of water/pool chemicals

5% Reduction in the usage of cleaning chemicals

9% Reduction in consumption of liquid gas |
