The Temple of Poseidon

3 km away from the hotel stands one of the most celebrated archaeological sites in Europe and the second most important ancient Temple in the area of Attica. Situated directly opposite the hotel grounds and in plain view from several kilometers, stands the Temple of Poseidon, the Ancient God of the Seas. Dated back to 444-440 BC the temple was constructed from white marble in a Doric style. It was the symbol of The Athenian power and a religious center of the times.

It was heavily ornated with statues and columns many parts of which are now in the National Archeological Museum in Athens, as well as in Italy, Germany and England, taken there by admirers of the Classical Greek Era. Many legends of mythology are connected with Sounion, as well as this of the Minotaurous in Crete. It is one of the most frequently visited sites in Greece and it offers one of the most exquisite sunsets in the world.
